When and how to celebrate their Saint's day
Birthday, angel's day, the day of remembrance of his Holy – all names of one and the same Orthodox holiday. Everyone has their own, and pays tribute to the Saint, in whose honor was named.
Our name – part of us. It sounds to us since birth, has a specific meaning, and even magic. At baptism an Orthodox is given the name of person in honor of a Saint. Subsequently, he will be your patron and protector throughout life. This Guardian angel you can contact in difficult periods of life with a request, a prayer. When things will get better, it must not forget to thank for their assistance.
The name is chosen according to Orthodox Church calendar. If you open it, you will see that each day is dedicated to a particular Saint, and sometimes several of them. In this case, a person can choose after the patron Saint, which he is closest, because it's your angel day. In the Calendar there is only one recommendation in this respect: honoring the Holy name must be written on the next page of the calendar to the day of your birth, and go after it (not before). For example, your day angel Natalia celebrates on 8 September.
The Church teaches that all Christians have two angel. One, Keeper, guide us on the right path, protects from rash actions, gives patience to survive temporary difficulties. And the second is God's man, his name we wear. He constantly prays for us, interceding before God. Despite all the sinful things that we all make in life, both angel love us so much.
If a person grew up in an Orthodox family, he was baptized in early childhood, and then your angel day, he had known. However, it so happens that even baptized people who never attended Church, conscious life, and not knowing, in honor of the Holy Martyr called them. Happens even so that you know the name, but here's the problem: on the pages of the calendar saints can carry the same name. John, for example, is found about eighty, and the Holy Alexander – more than thirty times. Or the reverse situation – one and the same patron may be celebrated several times. How, then, to correctly determine the day of the angel?
It's simple: if the memory of the days of the year in not one, but several, choose the closest one, but only after his birthday. This will be the feast of the patron Saint, or the day of your angel, or your birthday. All other days according to established Church tradition are considered small party.
However, these recommendations is highly variable. The Church allows Orthodox to choose any patron Saint, regardless of the calendar location. And, accordingly, on this day, then to celebrate their birthday.
Congratulations Angela – the same thing is optional. But what is recommended to do is to remember his Holy, seek him in prayer, to thank you for the invisible presence nearby. To celebrate the name day of the Church advises always with communion and confession. If the day — vegetable, the feast and the congratulations of relatives is better to move.
