How to finish breastfeeding
Sooner or later in the life of every lactating mother there comes a time when she thinks about how to finish breastfeeding. How to do it competently, effortlessly and thus not to hurt the baby?
Surely everyone knows that breast milk is the best product for a newborn child, due to its nutritional value, usefulness and taste. In addition, such food and, as a rule, in sufficient quantity. However, breastfeeding cannot go on forever, and at some point natural causes or circumstances force a mother to make an important decision: to finish breastfeeding.
Explain to the child that it is time to forget about the mother's breast, is almost impossible. To excommunication did not become stressful for the child, you need to do it not overnight, but gradually, reducing the number of feedings. You can remove one at a time: first day of feeding, then night. This way mom can teach baby to ensure that he will demand the breast less and less.
It may happen that the kid will get suspicious and will ask for the breast more often than usual. In this case, the mother may seem that the child is not ready for weaning. What to do? First, you need to distract the child, to give him new impressions, thanks to which the kid will forget about the chest at all.
Remember, gradual weaning is the imitation of the natural process of extinction of lactation. The smaller the feedings, the less milk is produced. How to finish breastfeeding painless, you ask? If done right, you can avoid the heaviness in the chest, lactose, milk stagnation. Over time, the mother simply stops to put the baby to your breast, the body changes, and lactation is terminated by itself.
Anyway, weaning is a stressful situation for the baby. Surely everyone has heard of "grandma's methods" weaning: woman smeared her breast with green paint, put on the nipple that stupid or insipid to the chest does not attract the child. Today, all these techniques obsolete, because it proved that they could further aggravate the situation. Any change is stress. Just think of what my mom feels when her life is a big change: childbirth, breastfeeding, diet, care of child nutrition. About the same feel and baby, so it is better to abandon the "brutal" techniques of the past.
There are many gentle and more simple methods. For example, the mother can "hide" the chest or a few days to give the child less attention, not to be reminded of breast milk.
Before you finish breastfeeding, make sure the baby's fine, it does not hurt and is ready to excommunication physically. Wait if:
— the baby is teething
— will any change (moving, exit mom to work, etc.)
— the child's diet is monotonous
— the little boy has bowel problems.
Don't forget the weaning of the child from the breast – the same natural process as breastfeeding newborn. Be patient and carefully prepare for such a significant change. Make sure that the child survived it easily, and then all the mother and baby will be satisfied and happy!
