Hamster Dzungarian: reproduction in captivity
The Dzhungar hamster is a separate, independent species of animal. For a long period of time it was believed that it has a less common subspecies, called Campbell's hamster. Undoubtedly, confusing these animals is quite simple, since decorative hamsters differ only in color.
The jungar hamster, whose reproduction is possible in captivity, does not grow more than ten centimeters in length, and its weight does not exceed 45 grams. As already mentioned, these animals are different in color. Distinctive features of the jungar hamster are shaggy legs and a practically black color longitudinal strip located on the back, as well as the interspersion of white fur throughout the trunk and a small tail.
Hamster Dzhungarsky, the reproduction of which runs absolutely the same with hisbrothers, has its own characteristics. Female djungarika can bring up to fifteen cubs for one litter, and in some sources it is noted that up to eighteen. These indicators are higher than those of Syrian hamsters. In one year (March-September) the female of the Dzhungar hamster can bring three or six litters. Going to get a couple of Dzhungar hamsters, think in advance where you will put a lot of young.
The jungar hamster, whose reproduction in the home is quite simple, loves solitude. It is very important to put the cubs away from the mother in time. Approximately at one-month age, the animals become completely independent, and individual individuals are also sexually mature. There is an option that an offspring may appear, but at that age the pregnancy of the jungar hamster is undesirable, since the skeleton is formed only to the age of five months of the animal.
Dzhungar hamster, whose pregnancy lasts on average twenty days (plus - minus two days), should live in specially created conditions. In the case of a stressful situation, the female jungariki can easily transfer their offspring or even eat it. Like the vast majority of animals, in the hamster species, the Dzungarian reproduction is possible only if individuals of the same breed are selected. It is very important not to cross different types of ornamental hamsters, as the offspring usually turns out to be non-viable.
Dzungar hamster is a friendly enough animal. Provided good content, he will enjoy his hosts for a long time. For him, a metal cage in two tiers perfectly suits. Due to the fact that this animal is very mobile, it will require a lot of various entertainment - wheels, ladder, tunnels and various structures that you can find in zoomagzinah.
The bottom of the cage needs to be covered with sawdust, which will serve as an excellent place for jungariks to hide their supplies and ordinary games. During the day, hamsters lead a passive lifestyle and mostly sleep. If a hamster can not make a mink in sawdust, he will need a house in which he will rest in the daytime.
In nutrition hamsters-jungariki unpretentious. It is enough to buy a variety of feed in the pet store. As a treat, give them cooked meat. Do not forget to provide the pet with water, as its lack can lead to various diseases.
