International Day - Nurse's Day
Every year on May 12, the International Nurses Day, or International Nurses Day (the name adopted as a worldwide one), is celebrated. On this day, everyone should prepare to pay tribute to people who work for the benefit of others, who dedicated their lives to helping mankind.
It is advisable to prepare special congratulations to the nurse. Perhaps, it will be quite enough simple poems, attention and respect. But if you work in a medical institution, you can prepare and any thematic gift that could please all the medical staff. It's nice to remind people about how important they are to us, because that's what supports their aspirations and inspires them to new feats.
International Day of the nurse is celebrated on the birthday of one of the famous Englishwomen, Florence Nightingale, who organized the very first service of the sisters of mercy in the world during the flared up Crimean War (1853-1856).
It was during the hostilities that certain stable stereotypes developed: a nurse is a nurse or a nurse taking soldiers from the battlefield; she is standing next to the patient during the operation, and may herself provide first aid.
According to reliable sources, Russian nuns from the St. Nicholas monastery of the Russian capital went to the front during the Crimean War to join their sisters from abroad and help them to care for the wounded and sick soldiers. Later, the wives of aristocrats labored, helping the hospital staff. It is known that the daughter and the wife of Emperor Nicholas I. also contributed to a good endeavor.
Such people who have chosen the most humane profession in the world should be valued, because they are at night on duty at the head of the patient, they forget about themselves, giving all care and affection to a wounded or sick person. And their life is truly blessed. Such work is paid for by enthusiastic views, dumb gratitude and light in the eyes of someone who has already despaired and did not have hopes for recovery. There is nothing more beautiful than when one person can benefit many people, can encourage everyone who has lost interest in life with a smile, who already does not hope for salvation, who is broken by illnesses and hardships. Be attentive and at least once a year remember those who are ready to support you in a difficult moment.
Day of the nurse is celebrated for about 150 years. However, officially it began to be celebrated only in January 1974. Mankind still remembered the merits of these brave women. The International Day of the Nurse began to celebrate when the nurse of mercy was united from various countries, the number of which was 141. A professional public organization, the International Council of Nurses, was formed.
Russia is a little behind with the adoption of this holiday. And only in 1993 it was decided to add it to the general list. This suggests that Nurses Day is a relatively young holiday. It remains to be hoped that the younger generation will be able to penetrate its importance, having become acquainted with the history of this heroic profession.
