The Skye Terrier — a small aristocrat
The Skye Terrier is one of the most ancient dog breeds. In the early 17th century near the island of Skye (the Hebrides group) a Spanish ship was wrecked. Among the saved were a few dogs. Later they were crossed with a Scottish Terrier, which marked the beginning of a new breed – Skye Terrier. This version of the origin of these dogs is shared by most dog trainers. However, it should be noted that in the formation of the modern type have undoubtedly taken part, and other breeds e.g. spaniels.
The Skye Terrier – the owner of the excellent hunting qualities, it has proven itself in the Norn work. However, long hair, difficult to clean, prevented this breed to take the first steps in the ranking of the Norn hunting dogs.

The Skye Terrier, photo of which is shown above, has a high set erect ears. However, the breed standard allows for hanging. Black nose, wool long (to 14 cm), straight. Skye Terriers require regular (at least once a week) brushing. Otherwise, their beautiful fur is dirty or matted. It is necessary to periodically trim the hair between the pads on the feet and fingers, otherwise there will be stuck twigs, dirt, sand, etc. Playful and energetic dogs need daily walks, which should last long enough.
