Day of the Navy: history and tradition
In 2010, member countries of the International Maritime organization to the UN, it was decided to add to the list of professional holidays. And now, every June 25, the seafarers accept congratulations with the Day of the seafarer. However, for more than seventy years, one of the most beloved and widely celebrated celebrations in Russia is the Day of the Navy.
It was approved exactly two years before the great Patriotic war and since then is celebrated on the last Sunday of July. Perhaps this is a coincidence, but I wonder what the end of this summer months firmly entrenched in the history of the Russian Navy in the early eighteenth century. 26-27 July 1714, the Russian Navy won its first major victory, defeating the Baltic island of Gangut, a detachment of the Swedish ships, and was the commander of this operation was not a professional soldier, and the Emperor Peter the great. In commemoration of this victory, by order of the Governor (as well as the Creator of the Russian Navy) 27 of July of each year were held the solemn Liturgy, marine parades, and, of course, fireworks and cannon firing, who so loved the king-Admiral.
For residents of cities such as St. Petersburg or Vladivostok, the Day of the Navy is remarkable, first of all, the fact that they can enjoy the beautiful sight – a Grand parade of battleships. It should be noted that only seamen have this privilege on the occasion of his feast. For other types of troops not provided the special parade of this magnitude.
Of course, the Day of the Navy is something to see! Destroyers, cruisers and ships of other types, decorated with colored flags lined up near the shore, and along their sides in solemn ranks are team members in full uniform. The court demonstrative artillery and missile firing, Marines, accompanied by fire support from the sea, landed on the beach, demonstrating teamwork and proficiency when performing amphibious operations, and from the sky they cover the planes and helicopters of naval aviation. Also his art show, the rescuers, the soldiers of the submarine forces and the naval representatives of other professions. At dusk the silhouettes of the ships, which on the occasion of the celebrations burn all the side lights look particularly impressive against the background of the water surface, and at the end of the holiday thunder fireworks.
Congratulations on this day to rightfully take not only the soldiers but also their families. Anyway, the Day of the Navy — do holidays, because among several generations of Russian men, many of those who served in the Navy. Even in the most remote from the sea cities on this day you can meet the former "moreman", proudly donned in honor of his vest and his cap. Gathering at the appointed place (usually in a green Park), they sometimes celebrate their holiday a little noisy, but such outdoor activities very rarely unpleasant incidents.
In the evening, when the sky scattered bunches of fireworks (and he takes in all the major cities and "land", and coastal), "little brother", as traditionally call themselves sailors, filled the air, a thunderous "Hurrah! Yay! Hurrah!" and cries of "the Day of the Navy!".
