Steffi - the doll that all girls dreamed of
In the early 90's the dream of all girls - the Barbie doll - finally appeared in the post-Soviet countries. However, the price of an overseas guest was quite high for many parents at the time. Therefore, the market of children's goods filled with numerous analogs. Among them were some pretty cheap clones - Jessica and Wendy dolls, as well as more expensive European dolls, of good quality and at an affordable price. So many girls became happy owners of dolls Sandy, Betty, German toys Karina and Petra, as well as their compatriots Steffi. The doll still does not concede its place on the shelves of toy stores, unlike others, which have long since been withdrawn from production.
The Barbie "Steffi" doll is produced by the German company Simba Toys, which, in the current state of development of toys, strives to make Steffi competitive. For her come up with fashionable images, offer new options, however, the quality and price is still at a decent level.
In the first years after the emergence of Steffi doll almost did not differ from other analogues of Barbie. The body had the same proportions. The waist of the doll could turn, and was slightly oblique, the arms - slightly bent, but to breed, or it was impossible to reduce them. Long legs ended with small feet. Mounting for the head used the simplest - a ball of impressive size. Despite all the simplicity of the doll's body, the materials for its manufacture were high-quality. The head was cast from a hard, limb - from soft vinyl, the torso - from glossy plastic. The doll's legs were hinged and could bend.
After some time, the producers began to make clavicles on the trunk. In addition, model Steffi appeared. The doll was with a thin waist and a slender figure.
The color of the doll's body at that time, the code just started its mass production, is typical for the 90's. Steffi was pretty tanned. Later it becomes lighter, and modern models imitate the natural color of the skin.
In the 90's, Simba Toys introduced a whole line of these toys. Among them - ballerinas, riders, talking, as well as pregnant women. The location of the "baby" in the tummy was maximally anatomical. This principle was not followed by all doll makers.
The design of the pregnant doll Steffi was quite interesting and well thought out, therefore manufacturers use it till now. "Child" inside the doll was located on a special plate, and on top was closed with a convex lid. After the pupsa was removed, the plate stood in place of the convex lid, making the abdomen flat. Thus, the girls could play both "pregnant" and an ordinary doll.
The first dolls had rather magnificent hair. However, their quality was not always good. Most often they resembled the budget versions of Barbie. The fact is that almost immediately after the child began to play with the doll, her hair looked like a loofah, and eventually could fall out or decay. This happened especially often if the doll was subjected to sharp temperature changes.
Like Barbie, Steffi's hair was light. A little later the collection of blondes was replenished with dolls-brunettes. Today, every girl can choose a doll with the color of her hair, which is best liked, even if this color is far from natural.
Despite the fact that the face of the first Steffi were much like Barbie, the toy became recognizable. This is a calm smile and a pensive face. The first models of the eye showed blue, with a small number of shadows suitable for shade.
A little later, eyes and makeup became more diverse. On the whole, one gets the impression that the face of the doll is "rejuvenated".
Simba Toys always tried to keep up with the times, so a new Steffi series was released - the Steffi Girl doll. This is the German equivalent of the popular now Bratz. The new doll has a standard body, but its head is much larger than that to which all are accustomed.
Accessories and clothes
Like the doll itself, its outfits were of good quality. It was like evening dresses, lush skirts, and everyday outfits - sarafans, pants and blouses. The wardrobe of the doll is simple, but it is interesting and diverse in its own way.
Separately, it should be said about the shoes worn by the Steffi doll. Buyers' comments say that the shoes that were included in the sets with the doll, also fit other toys of its format, and even Japanese beauties on hinges. Shoes were painted in part, and its details were perfectly worked out.
Family and friends
The line of Steffi is supplemented first of all by her husband. Previously, he was known as Danny, but modern children know him as Kevin. The distinctive features of this doll-boy are pink hair and a tattoo, located on the torso. But, as often happens, it's much harder to find a boy doll than his "wife".
The catalogs do not mention the names of the children of the Steffi doll. The photo shows that these babies in many ways resemble the children of the Barbie family, except that the nematches are more plump. Very popular is the daughter Evi, which was released in a separate series. Accessories for this baby are as much as for her "mom": clothes, pets, winter games.
