Check that the fabric is not caked and there are no folds on it, otherwise bright colors will appear on it after staining. Hold the thing in the basin (stirring occasionally) until it becomes slightly darker than required. Having dried up, it will brighten up. Then rinse the product several times, adding a little vinegar to the last rinse water.
