Why is husky different from husky? The similarity and difference between husky and husky
These are amazingly beautiful dogs. No one can pass by them indifferently. But not everyone can distinguish between these two noble breeds - they really have much in common. It's time to figure out how the husky is different from the husky. For this you need to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of each breed.
It is a northern sled dog of primordial Russian origin, although FCI (International Dog Union) attributes American roots to it.In fact, breeders in America used to breed modern breeds of aboriginal dogs, taken from the indigenous peoples of Anadyr, Kamchatka and Kolyma - the Yukagirs, Eskimos and Kereks. All these small ethnic groups are mistakenly united under the common name of "Chukchi". The first difference between a hussy and a husky just consists in the appointment: the husky is a driving breed, the husky is hunting.
At the height of the gold rush in Alaska, the main means of transportation were dogs. By that time the Americans had already mastered the Russian Far East and the North - the inhabitants were actively engaged in whaling and seal fisheries. So there was no question about which dogs are preferably relocated to Alaska. At this stage, the difference between husky and husky was somewhat leveled - both dogs were equally in demand.
Where are the American roots from?
This misunderstanding happened in the early twentieth century. In the country of the Soviets, the general register of northern dogs was compiled for the first time. The color of the canine tribe-the sledding-did not get into this register because they were not considered promising: in the USSR they should not have to ride dog sleds anymore. On the horizon there were already planes, helicopters, snowmobiles and aerosleds. Americans were far-sighted. They were taken out of Siberia and have already begun to set sled dogs in the US, and soon they gladly decorated them as a breed, painted all the features of each species and subspecies in the registry, and specified in particular how the husky differs from the husky. Priority they still retained for the husky, as an excellent racing breed. By the way, dog races, held in Alaska since 1908, are held to this day.
Husky is small in size - up to 60 cm at the withers in males and up to 56 cm in females - and with a small weight (maximum 28 kg). But this compactness is deceptive - the Siberian husky can tirelessly drive riders for hours on end in the most difficult conditions. In the character warehouse, these are very friendly dogs, which excludes their use as guards. And the hunters are not very good.
As already mentioned above, husk is primarily a hunting dog, and this is the main answer to the question of how the husky is different from the husky. By and large this name can be considered a collective designation of all hunting dogs of the forest zone of the Eurasian north. They refer to a group of Spitz and their subspecies. This dog in Russia was more fortunate: in 1911 the breed was officially classified by Russian cynologists. The differences between husky and husky are also in the fact that in the case of the husky the primacy in its breeding did not succumb to foreigners, and it remained "Russian husky". In this case, one of the pioneers of breeding breeds - a passionate hunter and breeder of dogs, Prince AA Shirinsky-Shikhmatov - noted that there are as many species of husky as there are tribes living in the North and Siberia. Total allocate dozens of subspecies: Tunguska, Finno-Karelian, Zyryan, Ostyak, Votyacka, Norwegian, Buryat husk ... The list is very impressive. Thanks to the efforts of real fans of cynology - the already mentioned AA Shirinsky-Shikhmatov, MG Dmitrieva-Sulim and others - there were deep studies of the breed. However, later, since 1925, many judgments of the first researchers were recognized as erroneous, most of the listed varieties never existed. With each subsequent classification, the list of Laika was revised. Today, Russian-European, East Siberian, West Siberian, Yakut, Karelo-Finnish Laika are known.
Like: breed characteristic
This is a real hunter, so strong and agile that he goes with the biggest animals - ungulates and even bears, as well as small game - fur animals. Laika hunts, and she brings prey, and this is an essential sign of what the husky is different from the husky. In terms of height and weight, both dogs are almost the same. Laika reaches 60-61 cm at the withers, weight - up to 23 kg. It is also fluffy, with a stiff protruding hair and a snow-white collar, like the husky.
Huskies and likes: what is the difference and what are the similar breeds
Why does the question of the similarity of two completely different breeds arise at all? To be fair, we must admit that there are similar signs. Both breeds in terms of height and weight belong to the middle category. These and other dogs have a luxurious thick coat with a tough undercoat that helps them feel great in the harsh conditions of Siberia and the Far North. Color in husky and husky can be similar - from black and white to brownish-white, with a thick white collar. In general, both dogs are very beautiful and do not leave anyone indifferent.
And now about the differences. The very first difference between husky and husky is the exterior. An experienced dog breeder is difficult to confuse these animals, although it is sometimes difficult for an amateur to sort out. And therefore it is useful to once again consider the signs of each animal, in order to know how to distinguish husky from husky.
Clear breed differences
About the first and main differences have already been said: Husky - riding and racing dog, husky - hunting. If necessary, each of them can be used for both driving and hunting simultaneously, but they perform poorly their tasks worse. Further. The addition of the husky is stronger and dense, while in the husky - a lighter and lean. The tail of the husky is usually omitted, in the husky - raised to the back. The Husky, by the way, has a tail more fluffy than a husky. And on the paws you can distinguish these dogs: the wide strong paws of the husky give out a sled dog, they have more compact husky. And the brightest difference is, of course, the eyes. None of the dogs, including the husky, have such blue eyes as the husky, and in this they have no equal. But they did not fly into space, unlike the Laikas. Husks have a self-cleaning hair, and they almost do not have a smell, but the husky has a usual pungent odor. And often this circumstance becomes decisive in the question of who is better - husky or husk, if it is a question of choosing a domestic dog. Yes, not always these great riding and hunting dogs are used for their intended purpose. Recently, more and more often they are chosen as a companion dog for maintenance in the conditions of a private farmstead or even in a city apartment.
In general, the question of the superiority of some breed is at least illogical. How can you choose the best dog of the two best, which are also so close in many ways that they are even confused? If you are lucky enough to get a puppy of any of these two breeds - you can assume that the family has a real friend for adults and children.
