Tawless Bourbon Marriage
The ancestor of this breed, undoubtedly, was a French marriage. However, experts see in the formation of the exterior of these dogs and Spanish roots. The place, time of its deducing, and also the surname of the author of creation of Bourbon marriages are well known. These hunting dogs were brought out by the Italian breeder Aldovrandi. He worked in the French province of Bourbonnais. In 1589, the dog breeder wrote a lengthy encyclopedia about various breeds of dogs, in which he devoted an entire article to his pets - the Bourbon pointer.
Illustrations of this work Aldovranti, as well as numerous portraits on the canvases of masters show that the Bourbon marriage of the 16th century was no different from the modern one. His excellent hunting qualities also remained unchanged. He earned himself the reputation of a girlfriend's dog, perfectly follows the trail, tireless in pursuing the beast. He equally well hunts both for partridges and woodcocks, and for game in the forest. At the same time, he is a devoted and obedient companion.
Compared to other pointer dogs, the Bourbonnae marriages look more elegant and elegant. For which her representatives were honored to be admitted to the court. For a long time they took part in royal hunting and even became a symbol of the might of the French monarchy. This served the dogs poorly in the future. The Great French Revolution was a test for the breed, because to its representatives simple people harbored dislike. Only in the era of the Restoration, together with the revival of the monarchy, attempts were made to restore and its symbol - the Bourbon marriage.
But till now this breed is considered rare. You can buy a puppy only from breeders who give the dog only to the hunter's hands. Thus, they are concerned about the preservation and development of service qualities. So what is he - a Bourbon marriage? Its appearance is quite expressive. This is a medium-sized dog. Males reach a height at the withers of 51-57 centimeters, females - 48-54 cm. They are massive, but not heavy - up to 25 and 22 kilograms, respectively. Only two types of color are allowed: either a white background with a beige-gray crab, or a chestnut with a lilac ebb. A distinctive feature of the breed is the short (up to 15 cm) tail. If it is longer, this part of the body is stopped.
The character of the Bourbon marriage is angelic. He is intelligent, unobtrusive, moderately sociable. Loves all the domestic, very obedient. He perfectly sees the difference between game and domestic animals, so he will not bring his master any trouble. Perhaps in the pursuit (rather, sniffing) of the booty, he shows slowness, but completely compensates for her with diligence, perseverance and diligence.
Bourbon marriage does not have "thoroughbred diseases". Representatives of the breed live on average 13-15 years. For a full life and full disclosure of working qualities, it is best to keep a dog out of town. Brakk needs long walks, especially at a young age. For short and fine hair does not require careful care - combing once a week is enough. With too strict training or lack of attention, the dog can show resentment. But, fortunately, marriages are not shy.
