Bengal cat: the nature and characteristics of care
The name Bengali cat did not acquire its name because of Indian origin. Breed in the solar state of California not so long ago - in 1963. American breeders wanted to create a "small home leopard", so they crossed the leopard cat with the usual domestic shorthair. Their official recognition of Bengali was only twenty years later, in 1983. A kitten is considered thoroughbred if genes of wild leopard ancestors clearly manifest in it (at least 12%, better - 25%).
Bengal cat - the photo is clearly demonstrated - looks very much like a small leopard. This is a large animal: males weigh up to seven kilograms, and females weigh about four. They are very graceful, long-legged, and the plasticity of their movements is simply mesmerizing. Thick, but short hair and innate cleanliness make caring for these animals extremely easy. It's enough to bathe your pet from time to time, especially since the Bengals, unlike their relatives, just love to swim.
Some people argue that the Bengal cat character is wild, pugnacious or, conversely, timid. It's not like that at all. Breeders just worked to ensure that owners of small leopards did not have any problems with keeping animals in the family. Excessively timid or, conversely, aggressive individuals were not allowed for further breeding. The temperament of these pussies is affectionate, as in most domestic cats. They privthey are all domestic, although they emphasize a single member of the family. Their preference they show by the fact that they like to take a nap at their chosen one on ... neck or shoulder. Do not be surprised: this is a vestige of wild ancestors, because in nature leopards cats feel safe, only hiding in the crown of trees.
As already mentioned, these animals are not afraid of water at all and like to splash for hours. For their chosen one they will follow both in the shower and in the bath. Their favorite entertainment is to lower their toys into the water, and then take them out. Bengal cat, whose character can be called extremely affectionate, will share with the owner and bed. You can not buy her a personal litter or a house - she will ignore them anyway. Bengal is sure: the best place to sleep is under the blanket, at the owner's side.
To a very old age the Bengal cat character remains playful and inquisitive. She manages to adapt completely unsuitable things for games. It's worth keeping away from it an aquarium with fish, clothes, shoes, matches, threads, newspapers, cereals ... in a word, everything that can be scattered, scratched and torn. But then it should be gifted with toys, all the time different, new and wonderful. Bengals have a vicious passion to hide somewhere in the shelter and from there, with pleasure, watch how all the people look for them.
If you are a dispersed person and even careless, put things in their place and securely lock the cabinet you will learn a Bengal cat. The nature of this animal is such that, seeing once, as a person opens the refrigerator and takes out food from there, - then he will repeat his actions. Remembering the passion of Bengals to bathing, you should have tight knobs in the house from the taps with water, otherwise the pet decides to fill himself a bath. These cats are "talkative", and the sound of their purring gives out the origin: from the jungle. At the same time, these pussy do not have any smell of "wild beast". With dogs and other cats, they get on well.
